Serax · 1986 – 2026
Serax turns forty. From a garage in Wilrijk to around ninety countries.
Like Matriks, Serax is a family business from Antwerp. We look back, and show which designs you can find with us.

Ser plus Ax. Two brothers.
The name still gives it away: Ser from Serge, Ax from Axel. What started with copper flower pots is today tableware, lighting and furniture, made with designers, chefs and artists.

The garage
Brothers Serge and Axel Van Den Bossche take over their mother's small business. They sell copper flower pots to florists from the garage of their family home in Wilrijk.
The first designer
After terracotta and other pots for florists and garden centres, Serax works with its own designer for the first time: florist Peter Arts.
Maison & Objet
Floral artist Daniël Ost designs a stand for Serax at the Maison & Objet fair in Paris. From then on the brand also grows internationally.
The first tableware
Ceramicist Roos Van de Velde designs the first tableware collection. Her organic plates go straight into top restaurants.
Forty
Serax is based in Kontich, near Antwerp, and is present in around ninety countries. Axel handed day-to-day management to Tim Kamanayo and stays involved in design.
