A footed cake stand for a celebration cake, a tarte tatin or a pile of macarons at a birthday party. At 19.2 cm across it is perfect for a small cake or a few pastries. As a fruit bowl or a platter for chocolates it looks lovely too. Under a glass dome it also looks lovely on a sideboard.
The stand is made of porcelain in blue and white, decorated with surreal details such as clouds, jewels and a chequerboard pattern. It is 6 cm tall and is not dishwasher safe, so wash it by hand. Use a soft sponge and mild washing-up liquid to keep the details beautiful.
Antwerp jewellery designers Wouters & Hendrix drew the Fête Des Bêtes range for Serax, inspired by the elegance of the Belle Époque. Combine the stand with the coffee cups and milk jug from the same line.
