A bread knife for a crusty sourdough, a baguette or a brioche you don't want to squash. The 22 cm serrated blade saws through the hard crust and leaves the crumb intact. You can also use it to slice a ripe tomato or a cake.
The blade is stainless steel and the handle is smoothly finished boxwood, a fine, hard wood with a light, even colour. The knife feels light in the hand. Wash it by hand rather than in the dishwasher so the wood stays beautiful.
Pallarès Solsona has been making knives in the Catalan town of Solsona since 1917, still largely by hand. After a few years of use, this bread knife sits just as well in the hand as on the first day.
