A vase with a round, full shape that lends itself well to a loose bunch of wild flowers, a few branches from the garden or a single large bloom. Even empty on a cabinet or windowsill it is a piece to look at, because the glaze is so lively.
The vase is made of yellow clay with a beige glaze full of dark red speckles. A dark red rim runs inside and out, framing the shape. The whole has something of an old farmhouse jug, warm and handmade, and goes well with wood, rattan and linen at home.
AB Ceramics is the studio of Ann Berger in Antwerp. She throws every vase by hand, and glazes and fires it herself, so no two are exactly alike. The vase is watertight and dishwasher safe. Place it next to a smaller bowl or cup of hers in another colour for a lovely pair.
