Serax Wouters & Hendrix Marcel Black Dish 30/14

A medium-sized, elongated dish for roasted vegetables, a pan-fried fish or a row of nibbles with drinks. Its narrow shape fits in the middle of a busy table, between plates and glasses, without getting in the way. It also works well on a buffet or sideboard, where guests can help themselves.

The Marcel line was designed for Serax by Wouters & Hendrix, the Antwerp duo behind a well-known jewellery label. You can see it in the details: the rim rises gently and makes the dish more of a sculpture than a simple serving piece. The porcelain has a deep black finish that catches the light at the rim and gives a calm, matt surface in the middle.

Colours stand out especially well against black. Think green asparagus, beetroot, lemon wedges or a piece of salmon: everything immediately looks carefully served. Empty on a cabinet or coffee table, it also works as a bowl for fruit or keys. Anyone who likes to go all out can set it beside the smaller and larger sizes from the same range. After dinner the dish can simply go in the dishwasher. The porcelain is sturdy and the black finish stays beautiful, even after a lot of use. So this is not a piece you only bring out for special occasions, but a dish you really use every week.
